An exhibition catalogue, published to accompany the 2014 survey exhibition of Roland Reiss (USA, 1929 - 2020) at the Lee and Nicolas Begovich Gallery at Cal State Fullerton University, curated by Mike McGee. Published by the Grand Central Press (December, 2014) the hardback book is profusely illustrated with color plates of artwork; and includes essays by curators Mike McGee, Dan Cameron, and Howard Fox; and art writer Lita Barrie.
Beginning with his career in the 1950s creating abstract paintings, this survey follows Roland Reiss’ 1960s experiments with resin and plastic, to his best-known tableau miniatures featuring dollhouse-scale environments that address sophisticated issues about the human condition and social conventions. The catalogue examines the artist’s return to painting, from his large scale abstract works to his recent series of floral painting.
