Joe Ray will receive a solo exhibition – Perspective: The Art Of Joe Ray – in Louisiana, at the Alexandria Museum of Art. The solo survey coincides with the artist's eightieth birthday and will be on view from November 2, 2024 - February 15, 2025.
This exhibition is Joe Ray’s homecoming, as an artist, to Alexandria where he was raised and several generations of his family still reside. He will show paintings, sculpture, and photographs from his six-decade career. This is his first museum solo exhibition.
Curated by Olivia Helmer, Perspective: The Art of Joe Ray will have a members opening Friday, November 1, 2024 at The Alexandria Museum of Art.
Joe Ray’s work is in many private and public collections including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), Los Angeles, CA; The Broad, Los Angeles, CA; Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art, Logan, UT; AÏSHTI Foundation, Beirut, Lebanon; among others. His work has been exhibited at institutions such as LACMA, Los Angeles, CA; the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), Los Angeles, CA; the Contemporary Art Museum Houston (CAMH), Houston, TX; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA), San Francisco, CA; and the Contemporary Art Center (CACNO), New Orleans, LA.
