Jason Stopa receives Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program award

The Walentas Family Foundation has announced the recipients for the 2023 Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program awards.  Painter Jason Stopa is one of the seventeen artists who will receive a year-long rent-free studio space in DUMBO, Brooklyn.

Selected from a competitive pool of 1958 applicants by a jury comprising Phong Bui, David Brooks, Matthew Deleget, Doron Langberg, and Erika Ranee, the artists residency period will run from September 2023 through August 2024, with an open studios weekend to be scheduled for spring 2024.

Developed for artists by artists in 1991, The Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program mission is to provide working studio space and community for artists. The program was renamed in 2014 in order to honor the legacy of Marie Walsh Sharpe and reflect the new sponsorship and commitment of the Walentas Family Foundation to the local artist community.
